But before they become candy,
they go through a long journey…
The harvested medicinal plants must be
dried as soon as possible to prevent
mold formation or steaming, which would
reduce the quality of the plant.
Strict procedures are followed during drying
and storage.
Before processing, the herbs undergo rigorous
control of microbial quality, active
substances content, and heavy metals, and
the herb is awarded a so-called quality certificate.
This involves several processes (maceration,
percolation, distillation), with the selection
of the one that best preserves
the desired active substances. Extraction is done with cold
or warm water, alcohol, or oil.
Various types of extracts are used,
from herbal blend extracts, through extracts
of flowers and leaves, to extracts
from fruit seeds.
Everything is mixed together into the filling.
While the filling is cooking, on another cooking
device the so-called candied (candy) mass is prepared simultaneously.
The cooked filling is filled into the candy mass
by a special device
and fresh candies come out of the machine. After solidifying
and cooling, they go through the packaging process.
Interest in medicinal plants and their use has persisted for centuries and is still evident today.
